EVOLVE DELAYED TILL 2015

2K’s upcoming multiplayer shooter Evolve has been delayed till 2015

Originally due for release in October 2014, Evolve has now been pushed back  to February 10th 2015 in the US and February 13th 2015 in the UK. This comes as a bit of a shock as the game had a great showing at this years E3 winning several awards and generating lots of hype in the process.

However Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that the game has not been delayed due to their busy Q4, with games such as Borderlands: The Pre Sequel, NBA 2K15, WWE 2K15, Civilisation: Beyond Earth and GTA V, but more to give developers Turtle Rock more time to fine tune the game.

Zelncik stated that:

“It was primarily a belief that polish pays off. When we give a title that is looking so promising, having won best of show at E3, a bit more time to make sure it is just as good as it can be, historically that has always been a good move to us.”

Zelnick is also of the belief that the ‘None-Traditional’ release period of February has been very good for Take-Two with regards to sales:

“Equally, I do like the February release date, I have to tell you. If you look at our history since we took over the company seven years ago, we have largely stayed out of the Holiday period and gone into what our competitors consider ‘non-traditional’ release windows. And that has served us very well. In February we are going to get the benefit of this new install base from over Christmas, and February will be wide open.”

In spite of their bare release schedule for most of this year and Evolves delay, Take-Two’s financial outlook remains unchanged which was driven by better than expected sales during the last quarter.
