Atari today announced details for its private beta to its and PURE FPS upcoming game, Alone in the Dark: Illumination for the PC.
The beta will be available on 29th January and if you want to take part in the private beta, all you have to do is pre-order the game by visiting it’s Steam page. Alone in the Dark: Illumination is the first in the series to have an online experience and gamers can co-op with four other people to solve a mystery in an Action/Horror setting. There is also the traditional single player mode as well.
Fred Chesnais, Chief Executive Officer of Atari, spoke a little about the game and the future of the franchise:
“Alone in the Dark has a passionate following of players who have kept up with the series since the original 1992 release, by introducing cooperative multiplayer, this new game engages the nostalgic fan-base and introduces a new generation of PC gamers to the franchise. We have a long-term plan for Alone in the Dark and there will be much more to come.”
The Senior Product Lead of Atari, Peter Banks, added:
“With the introduction of a single-player mode with the merciless Hunter, within the first environment, the menacing Coal Mine, we are laying the foundation of Alone in the Dark: Illumination. Subsequent updates will introduce new, compelling elements building on this first beta period. The multiplayer mode will also enhance the strategic light-based gameplay, complement the diverse character capabilities, and ensure ongoing fun.”
It was also announced that there will be an additional beta in the weeks leading up to the games release. Alone in the Dark: Illumination is due for release on Steam in Spring 2015 and will cost $29.99, or £22.99.
